They are then left in a med pod, which provides them time to heal and let their body adapt to the enhancements. Once grown to optimal size and development, they undergo treatment to add required cybernetic enhancements. They are inseminated under lab conditions and grown in an artificial Womb tank system, their DNA is altered to grow to the exact form which is required. The Protogen are subject to the same growth conditions as their successors, having been the initial base. Their biological components originate from a terrestrial theropodic dinosaur-like alien, which was found by the creators of the Protogen to be the most optimal species for cybernetic enhancement. This results in some notable differences, such as the notable difference in artificial content between the two, or the Protogen's modular limbs. The Protogen are the predecessors to the Primagen - whilst the Primagen are the most recent version in regards to technology, the Protogen were the Prototype creatures, hence the 'Proto' part of their name. They are attached via Magnetic nanite sockets, and applicable limbs include tails, arms and legs. The Protogen possess the ability to swap out large numbers of their limbs, as they are equipped to be modular. Special optic nanites run through the visor, as well as illuminated nanites to display the Protogen's facial features. When required, food is broken down by the cluster of 'nanites', swallowed and digested naturally. Each particle within the visor is an individual 'nanite', each of which are programmed to simulate a functional muscle and nervous system within the face. Protogen have biological ears, and can have up to 3 sets on rare variants. Protogen are approximately 40% artificial, with the large majority of their internal workings remaining biological in nature. It might possibly have the ability to display two colors at once in a gradient. Compared to the Primagen, they are more mammal-like in appearance, sporting a more upright stature, alongside a shorter, rounder visor, that is capable of displaying many emotions. Protogen are Anthro, cyborg-like creatures.
